Gluten-Free Apple Crumble

34
I shared this last year but I love it so much that I thought I'd share it again.  Enjoy!

Happy Independence Day, America!

Today is a special day for Americans, and I wanted to share something very American...and what's more American than Apple Pie, right?

This "apple pie" isn't really pie at all, but it has all the flavor of apple pie without all the fuss.  And without all the wheat.  It's not in a crust, so it's gluten-free.  But the best part is, you can make it, start to finish, in 15 minutes!

All you need is 1 skillet, 5 ingredients, and 15 minutes.

Ingredients:
6-8 Granny Smith apples, depending on size
1/2 stick (4 T) butter
1 tsp cinnamon
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup quick oats (gf)

Steps:
Peel and cut up apples. Set aside.
Melt butter in a nonstick skillet on medium heat.
Add apples and cinnamon to skillet.
Stir 'til well-coated.
Cook ~ 1 minute.
Add brown sugar. Stir.
Cook ~ 5 minutes, stirring often.
Add oats. Stir to coat.
Turn heat to low.
Stir and cook ~ 2 minutes, 'til oats turn golden.

Easy as pie, right?...Actually, it's a lot easier!

Scoop into dessert dishes and serve while warm.  If you wish, top with vanilla ice cream.
Your gluten-free guests will love you.  They'll never know how easy this mouth-watering dessert really was.  The word my 11-year-old used was, "stupendous."  :)))

Gooey Apple Crumble is special enough for a holiday, but simple enough for any day...and yummy enough for every day!

Yes, that is chocolate chip ice cream on top, because chocolate chips make everything better.  Also, it is the kind of ice cream I had on hand.
